- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8"x8" baking dish with butter.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add chopped apples and sauté for about 4 minutes.
- Add nutmeg and thyme to the apples and cook for another 4 minutes until caramelized.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
- Tear half of the crescent dough into pieces and layer them in the greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the caramelized apples and half of the cheddar cheese over the dough.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers.
- Add the remaining crescent dough pieces and top with the rest of the apples and cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes, garnish with thyme, and serve.
