Step-by-Step Instructions for Decadent Brown Sugar Fudge
- Prepare an 8 × 8-inch square pan by lining with parchment paper and lightly greasing it.
- Combine brown sugar, butter, and evaporated milk in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, stirring for 3-5 minutes.
- Increase heat to bring the mixture to a boil and cook until it reaches the soft ball stage (234–240°F).
- Remove from heat and let cool undisturbed for about 10-15 minutes until it reaches approximately 110°F.
- Stir in vanilla extract and beat the mixture vigorously until thickened and opaque, about 5-7 minutes.
- If using, fold in chopped nuts into the thickened mixture carefully.
- Pour the fudge into the prepared pan, smoothing the top and letting it set for several hours or ideally overnight.
- Once set, lift the fudge from the pan and cut into squares using a warm knife.

Notes
Store fudge in an airtight container. For best flavor, allow refrigerated fudge to come to room temperature before serving.
