  • 4 cups All-purpose flour

  • 1 cup Milk Warmed to 110°F
  • ½ cup Butter (softened) Use margarine for dairy-free
  • 2 large Eggs Use flax eggs for vegan
For the Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup Heavy cream Coconut cream for dairy-free
  • ½ cup Brown sugar (for filling) Swap with white sugar if desired
For the Frosting

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Warm milk to 110°F, stir in yeast and sugar, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine flour, chai spices, and salt in a bowl.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Add eggs and softened butter to milk mixture; whisk until blended.
  2. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients until a dough begins to form.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 7-10 minutes until elastic and smooth.
First Rise
  1. Shape dough into a ball, place in greased bowl, cover with damp cloth, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Make Caramel Sauce
  1. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan and steep chai tea bags for 10 minutes. Mix in butter, brown sugar, honey, and spices.
Make Filling
  1. Combine softened butter, brown sugar, and chai spices until smooth.
Roll the Dough
  1. Punch down dough, roll out into rectangle, spread filling, and roll tightly from long end.
  2. Slice into 12 pieces using dental floss.
Second Rise
  1. Arrange rolls in baking pan over caramel sauce, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Bake
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 29-32 minutes until golden brown.
Make Frosting
  1. Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy, mix in powdered sugar and spices.
Serve
  1. Cool slightly and frost generously. Serve warm.
