- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) or 160°C for fan-forced settings. Grease a 6-cup baking dish with melted butter or non-stick spray.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the dark brown sugar and cornflour until fully combined.
- In a large bowl, mix together the dark brown sugar, plain flour, and baking powder. Slowly whisk in the melted butter, followed by the egg, milk, and golden syrup.
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle the sugar and cornflour mixture over the top.
- Carefully pour boiling water over the back of a dessert spoon held above the pudding batter.
