Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) or 160°C for fan-forced settings. Grease a 6-cup baking dish with melted butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the dark brown sugar and cornflour until fully combined.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the dark brown sugar, plain flour, and baking powder. Slowly whisk in the melted butter, followed by the egg, milk, and golden syrup.
  4. Pour the batter into your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle the sugar and cornflour mixture over the top.
  5. Carefully pour boiling water over the back of a dessert spoon held above the pudding batter.
