- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Break the broccoli and cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Steam for 3-4 minutes until bright green.
- Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a skillet, add ½ cup diced onion and 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
- Whisk in ¼ cup flour, cook for 45 seconds. Gradually add 2 ½ cups chicken broth and stir until thickened.
- Add 4 oz cream cheese, and seasonings to taste, stirring until smooth.
- Combine 1 cup of breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
- Layer half of the steamed vegetables, cheese sauce, and cheese in a greased dish. Repeat layers.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
