Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1.5 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of butter to a rolling boil. Stir in ½ cup of Uncle Ben's Converted White Rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine two cans of red beans (with juices), 1 cup of additional water, onion powder, garlic powder, hot sauce, salt, liquid smoke, and bacon fat. Stir over medium heat and let simmer.
  3. Gently mash the bean mixture while keeping some whole beans. Stir frequently and let thicken for about 15 minutes.
  4. Serve by placing rice in a bowl and spooning warm red bean mixture over the top. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired.
