Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. Activate the yeast by sprinkling it over warm milk and letting it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Mix in the yeast mixture, pumpkin puree, and egg. Incorporate softened butter until smooth and slightly sticky, about 10 minutes.
  3. Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling and Shaping
  1. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and cloves until smooth.
  2. Roll the risen dough into a large rectangle, spread filling evenly, roll tightly into a log, and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased pan.
  3. Cover with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  4. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown. Cool in the pan.
Frosting Application
  1. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, gradually adding powdered sugar and maple syrup until well combined.
  2. Spread frosting over warm rolls, garnish with toasted pecans or maple syrup and serve.
