Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 13"x9" baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, eggs, brown sugar, cornstarch, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, and kosher salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the pumpkin mixture into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the pumpkin layer.
  6. Add the chopped pecans on top of the yellow cake mix.
  7. Melt the unsalted butter and drizzle it over the topping.
  8. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
