Equipment

  • large skillet
  • 9x13-inch casserole dish
  • aluminum foil

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the lean ground beef. Cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart until fully browned. Then add the diced onion, sautéing for an additional 3–4 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in the can of Manwich sauce and any optional diced tomatoes. Pour in the chicken or beef broth and bring to a gentle boil, simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the uncooked pasta and mix it into the sauce. Cover the skillet and cook for 9–11 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is al dente.
  5. Reduce heat to low and add the frozen corn and cubed melting cheese. Stir until combined and cheese has melted.
  6. Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with non-stick spray or butter. Transfer the mixture into the dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling. Remove foil for a few minutes if desired for a golden-brown topping.
