Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by whisking warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dough by combining pumpkin puree, melted butter, and egg in a bowl. Stir in the frothy yeast mixture and gradually mix in flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until soft.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a ¼ inch thick rectangle. Spread melted butter over the surface.
  5. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Sprinkle over the buttered dough and roll tightly into a log.
  6. Slice the log into 6-8 pieces and place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the rolls cool for 5 minutes, then frost with cream cheese or maple glaze.
