- Peel and cube about three large sweet potatoes. Place in boiling water and cook for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain and mash until creamy.
- Add ½ cup milk, ⅓ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup melted butter, 1 beaten egg, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ½ teaspoon nutmeg, and a pinch of salt to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix until smooth.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread sweet potato mixture into a greased 9x13 dish. Bake for 25–30 minutes until edges are set.
- Combine 1 cup flour, ½ cup brown sugar, and ¼ cup melted butter for the streusel topping. Mix until crumbly. If desired, add ½ cup mini marshmallows.
- Sprinkle streusel topping over baked sweet potato base, then add remaining mini marshmallows. Bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown.
- Broil for 2–3 minutes to achieve a toasted effect on the topping. Watch closely to prevent burning.
