Filling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, brown sugar, and salt. Gradually add warm milk, egg, and butter until a soft dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until elastic and smooth.
  3. Wrap the dough in a towel and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar for filling.
  5. Roll the dough into a rectangle measuring 16x14 inches and about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Spread softened butter over the dough, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture, fold in half, cut into strips, and twist into knots.
  7. Melt butter and mix with brown sugar and cinnamon, then spoon over the knots.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F and let the knots rise for 15 minutes.
  9. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Prepare the icing by melting butter and mixing with powdered sugar, coffee, and maple syrup.
  11. Drizzle the warm icing over the baked knots.
