  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch can be omitted
For the Bang Bang Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoon chili garlic sauce or sriracha as an alternative
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust to taste
For Frying
  • 2 cups vegetable oil canola or peanut oil recommended
For the Tacos
  • 8 pieces flour tortillas or lettuce leaves for a low-carb option

Method
 

Steps
  1. Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, chili garlic sauce, and sriracha in a medium bowl until smooth. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Soak the shrimp in a bowl of buttermilk for 20 minutes to enhance tenderness and adhesion of breading.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Drain shrimp and toss in the mixture until evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry shrimp in small batches for 4 to 4.5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Assemble the tacos by tossing fried shrimp in the bang bang sauce and then filling warmed tortillas, topping with fresh garnishes.
